Dream to Reality

Oy! Family and friends...Or whoever may have stumbled upon this blog. This Saturday (January 8th) marked one month. One month until I leave for Australia. Pinch me! Am I dreaming?

Since this summer, when I applied for the program at Macquarie University, a whole semester of challenging classes, a season of coaching, and many weekends on the volleyball court have flown by. And yes, I am still alive. During this time, I have been accepted to the abroad program, and dealt with the lengthy check list that has attached itself to said acceptance. The end of the semester whisked me into my 21st birthday, the bustling Holiday's, work, and my family into hyper-speed with planning and preparation for my big adventure abroad.

For those of you who don't know already, I am studying abroad at Macquarie University, which is located just outside of Sydney, Australia. My flight leaves at 3:45 p.m. on February 8. It is only a short 22 hours and 20 minutes later I will arrive at the Sydney airport, commencing my life as an international student. In April, my grandma, aunt, and parents will too be baring the long flight. For my mid-semester break, I will be joining them in New Zealand, the Great Barrier Reef, and in Melbourne, as we experience just a portion of what Australia has to offer.

This blog, which I will attempt to update weekly during my 5 month stay, will serve as a memoir and a means of updating everyone back home on the happenings in "Oz" (aka Australia, the Land Down Unda, etc).

I won't have my cell phone there with me (Oh my goodness, life without a cell phone!). However, you can reach me through this blog, Facebook, and on Skype (kerhar12).

Here's to turning dreams into reality!

G'Day mates!
